Student Life

The price of failure is success, but of mediocrity is disappointment.

— Motivational Quotes

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.

This is my idea on study breaks.

  • if you realize you’ve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
  • if you’re feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
  • if you can’t seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mailbox, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. it’ll help bring you back.
  • if there’s something else going on in your life and you can’t get it off your mind: write down what’s going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. it’ll help you work things out.
  • if you’re just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll hit REM and you’ll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
  • if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if there’s a crash course video online about it or draw out what you’re trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
  • if people around you won’t shut up: listen to some music. soundtracks and classical music is always good because they won’t absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
  • if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend who’s not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.

HOW TO DEAL with the SIDE EFFECTS

of REJUVENATING FACIAL SETS

1. Peeling – definitely expect some skin peeling, if not a lot. Skin peeling gets rid of dull, damaged skin so the smooth, new skin underneath can be revealed.
Some people find the peeling a bit much, in this case, take a 1-2 day break from using the toner , even if you’re in the middle of using it. You will find that your skin will peel more after you’ve stopped. On these days, wash your face with only cool or lukewarm water (no soap or facial cleansers) u can also use water based soap like Cetaphil, use twice a day and gently rub your face to remove the peeling skin. After doing this for 1-2 days, your skin will peel less.

2. Redness – many people complain about extreme redness. It is a lot like a chemical peel and peeling and redness are very common to happen. If you feel that the redness is a bit too much, stop applying 1-2 days. You should also ALWAYS apply plenty of sunblock to prevent skin burning from the hot sun.

3. Skin stinging while applying toner or creams–
A technique to decrease the stinging is to space the washing and the application at least 2 hours apart. Wash your face right away after going home from work around mid afternoon and then apply Rejuvenating Facial Toner plus Bleaching Cream before going to bed at night.

This gap between washing and application will give your skin time to resupply some of the oils lost from washing and so the oils help in reducing the stinging by reducing your skin’s dryness . Main point – your skin stings from applying toner because it gets too dry! Allow your skin to produce oils long enough to soothe your skin.

4. BREAK OUTS – Rejuvenating Facial set will cause some acne to come out during the first few weeks. This is because it is going deep inside the pores to take underlying impurities out. Once the acne surfaces, Rejuvenating Facial Toner and bleaching cream will dry them up pretty quickly. Keep using the set on your pimples. DO NOT STOP. If you stop when pimples surface you will find that they will stay visible on your skin longer than if you continue to use. If you have problems of redness and peeling at the same time as breakouts and want to take a 1-2 day break, using a cotton tip applicator, apply rejuvenating toner and creams to the acne areas. This method will dry up the pimples and allow the unaffected areas to resupply oils lost from dryness.

Rejuvenating Facial Set developed mainly for the treatment and prevention of acne (blackheads, whiteheads and pimples). It works well for other skin problems too.
1. Dark patches
2. Skin tags

WARNING: Do not apply rejuv cream too close to your eyes or mouth. It may be harmful.
3. Big pores –
4. Sagging skin – Just apply lots of a high SPF moisturizer to deal with the dryness. This is the main reason why I advise to rub rejuv cream in an upwards motion, to push the skin up and give yourself a small face-lift.
5. Acne scars – No matter how big or disgusting your pimple looks, NEVER POP YOUR ZITS! If you do, you will be left with deep scars for a long time. The good thing is, Rejuvenating Facial Set peels away layers of dead, dull skin, thus making the scars shallower. It is a lot like a chemical peel. It doesn’t totally eliminate the scars, just makes them less noticeable.

Discovering My Life’s Purpose

Identifying, acknowledging, and honoring this purpose is perhaps the most important action successful people take. They take the time to understand what they’re here to do – and then they pursue that with passion and enthusiasm.

For some of us, our purpose and passion in life is obvious and clear. We’re born with a set of talents and through persistent practice, we develop our talents into skills.

My child and family members are prime examples of clear purpose. It was clear from the moment they got on the planet what they were interested in.

My son wanted to draw all the time, and he is now in the art world. My brother was always tapping out rhythms on paint cans and dishes, and he’s now in the music world, along with one of his brothers.

My sister is in the literary world, and my stepson is definitely in the business world.

My niece is also in the arts – she began singing and drawing when she was two. And my stepson is in the business world. He was making business plans and selling things to his friends by the time he was in middle school.

They all had natural talents that were clear indicators of what they ended up ultimately being passionate about.

For some people, though, it’s not as easy to identify a passion. You may even have asked yourself at one point or another, “What should I do with my life?”  “What is my passion?” or “What is my life purpose.”

Alternatively, you may enjoy what you do, but on deeper exploration, discover that you’re passionate about something altogether different than what you do.

Below I’d like to give you 10 tips to help you find your life passion and true purpose.

Muslim Life

Being a muslim is about changing YOURSELF, not changing ISLAM.

– Inspirational Islamic Quotes

What is it like to practice Islam?

The first thing our fictional Muslim does is wake up before the sun—probably after blearily hitting snooze a few times, just like the rest of us—he starts off the day with the remembrance of God by engaging in the Fajr prayer.

To do this, cleanliness is a must, as he will wish to be ritually pure before praying. Our Muslim will purify himself in the Islamic way, called Wudu, which involves washing the left hand three times up to the wrist, washing out the mouth, nose, and face, the lower arms, the head, the ears, and the feet.

Once clean, he will ensure that he is properly clothed between the navel and the knees, and may spread a cloth if he doubts the cleanliness of the area in which he is to pray.

He will face Qibla, which the direction all Muslims face when praying—they will face toward Mecca in Saudi Arabia, the holiest place in the Muslim world.

Next, he will raise his hands to his ears, saying “Allah is the greatest” before launching into the opening prayer.

After this, he will bend 90 degrees at the waist, continuing to praise God. Finally, he will go down and place his head, knees, and hands upon the floor, rise into a kneeling position, and end his prayers.

Once the day’s first pre-dawn prayer is over, his life looks like that of every other Filipino—he might brush his teeth. He is not required to sport a beard, but it is likely that he will, because he wishes to take after the example of Muhammad, who also had one.

For breakfast, he will avoid those foods considered impure under Islamic religious law, such as pork, and any meat that he consumes must be prepared in a certain way, called “Halal”—this means that the animal was killed in a particular way and prayed over.

From here, our Muslim will go about his day, just as you would—he goes to work, relaxes, or spends time socializing with friends.

Shortly before noon—Muslim prayers are dictated by the sun—he will undergo the Dhuhr prayer. The physical movements of all five daily prayers are the same, but this time, the prayer is focused on seeking God’s guidance.

These prayers, in the Muslim world, are just as much for self-improvement as they are for the benefit of God—each time our fictional Muslim prays, he is reminded of God’s glory, of His laws, and of His love.

At some point in the day, it is likely that our Muslim will give to his favorite charity, or at least make plans to do so. The Quran—the Muslim holy text—uplifts the act of giving to the poor as a worthy endeavor, and so acts of giving are at the forefront of Muslim thought.

When the afternoon arrives, he is as ready to go home as the rest of us, but before he leaves, he performs the Asr prayer, in which he takes the time to reflect on God and the greater meaning of life.

The social scene he engages in after work can look quite different than the usual Filipino’s if romance is involved. Traditionally, Muslims do not date in the western sense, and so our fictional fellow may face challenges here in the West. If he does spend time with a member of the opposite sex, it may be in a group outing, amongst friends or family. One-on-one dates will be exceedingly rare.

Dating aside, he will spend time with his male friends just as anyone else would, albeit without the use of alcohol, which is forbidden in Islam.

After the sun goes down, he will engage in the Maghrib prayer, remembering God again as the day ends, and then, before retiring for the night, he will go through the Isha prayer, thinking of God’s mercy and forgiveness.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
